ritan lost his job and his marriage fell apart when a 20-year-old woman falsely accused him of sexually assaulting her. Caitlyn Gray was in a car accident in Sydney in November last year. The 20-year-old was struggling to fix her radiator on the roadside when Kenan Basic offered to help her with the damage. He spent almost two hours working to get it back on the road. She then told police Mr Basic said she “owed” him a hug for the favour. According to court documents, Gray then alleged Mr Basic requested she perform a sex act on him. Again she declined. Gray told police that Basic had propositioned her - then 19 - before he pursued her in
the car and later indecently assaulted her at a different location, grabbing her breast and crotch. At the time, police described Basics alleged behaviour as predatory. was innocent and on May 6 the charges against him were thrown out in court after Gray finally admitted to making it all up. Leaving court she covered her face with a denim jacket. Basic spent two weeks behind bars, lost his job and marriage as a result of the false allegations. He will return to court next month to fight for police to pay his legal bills.
